Some double standards that ive witnessed would be between men and women. Men are sensed to be stronger than women mentally and physically. Women are usually seen as victims and men are seen as the bad guy. A lot of women love to play the victim and read/write head the finger at the men. A lot of women will run and try to defend women to help them play the victim role even further. Women are not victims and should be held accountable for their actions. In a relationship, a woman can go out to get a cup of coffee with a manly friend, but if a male was caught doing that exact occasion he would be accused of cheating. This is all caused by stereotypes. A stereotype is a classification of a group of people. It is not always accurate. At a young age men are taught that boys dont cry and not to talk slightly their feelings causing them to bottle up, while women are free to do the opposite. Many women are sensitive, but not all of them. There are some genuinely tough women in this world who arent afraid to speak their mind and dont take every little thing to heart. How Can Assistive Technology Benefit Preschool Special Education Students?The inclusion of special needs children with typically developing peers has pay off a key service option in preschool special education classrooms (Odom, 2000). Benefits abound, yet inclusion does not present without challenges. Young children with disabilities find it complicated to act with objects and peers due to obstacles that their disabilities present. A child unable to speak too often goes unheard. Students with limited movement are frequently unable to participate in activities with peers. How rear young children with disabilities achieve some degree of independence so that they may interact in their environments without reliance on others? Assistive technology (AT) can aid young children with disabilities fully participate in natural, inclusive learning environments (Sadao & Robinson, 2010). Through the physical exertion of AT devices, even the youngest of children are provided opportunities fo r developmentally appropriate play, movement and communication. In this paper, I will talk about the use of assistive technology to promote young childrens participation in preschool learning opportunities. World Economy :: Consumer Confidence

Matsusaka & Sbordone (1995) used quarterly data from 1953 to 1988 to empirically investigate the relationship between consumer confidence and Gross National Product in the United States. Using vector auto regressions Matsusaka ( 1995) & Afshar, Arabian, Zomorrodian (2007) examined the effect of pure confidence on gross national product by implementing control variables such as the Index of leading indicators & Consumer price index respectively finding that confidence granger caused GNP for 1, 2, 3 & 4 quarter lag models. Through forecast error variance decompositions they concluded that 12%-26% & 8-23% of the variation in GNP can be attributed to consumer confidence. The slight variations in the decompositions can b accounted for by variable orderings and differing time periods. Similarly Utaka (2003) applied the same methodology used by Matsusaka & Sbordone(1995) to empirically investigate this relationship in the case of Japan. By development not only quarterly data, but month ly and semi annual data from 1980q1- 2000q3 they reconfirmed the consumer confidence- GDP relationship for Japan and assemble that it accounted for 9%-11% of variation in GNP. This showed smaller variation for Japan illustrating that confidence indicators influence on GDP movements are country dependent making it unwise to assume uniform relationship strength across countries. Golinelli & Parigi (2004) investigated this matter by analysing the consumer confidence relationship in eight countrys from 1970-2002. They modelled the CCI-GDP relationship using a co-integrated vector auto regression using a common set of macroeconomic variables that were country specific to control for correlation being control by other variables therefore avoiding the limits of the single equation approach found in previous literature. They tested the forecasting power by comparing the RMSE for open and restricted models for 1, 2 & 4 steps horizons. Golinelli (2004), Mourougane & Roma (2002), Taylor & Mcnab (2007) find that RMSE was generally lower in the unrestricted model at short term horizons (1-2 steps) for EU countries, illustrating its importance in short term forecasting. Much of previous literature has aimed at establishing whether consumer confidence indexes provide additional information in comparison to macroeconomic variables and not its forecasting power. However, these have received mixed results in most cases, yet it is acknowledged they maintained an autonomous role in forecasting, (see Mueller 1963, Adams 1964, Suits &sparks 1965, fair 1971 a & 1971b, Adams & Klein 1972). Opinion now acknowledges that the index can help predict economic activity (see Garner 1991, Fuhrer 1993 Carol et al 1994, Kumar et al 1995, Bran & Ludvigson 1998, Eppright et al 1998)

The Ice Cream IncidentThe Ice Cream Incident Eric Mortinson November 18, 2002 There inevitably comes a season during the course of your life where everything you are employs itself to seek revenge from a friend or loved one. This paradoxical concept drives you to the point of hating someone you care dear for. In the end, the typical result is absolute regret. This moment in my life came at the ancient age of 13. I was the intellectual king of my class. No cerebrum could go past the database of knowledge I carried within me. This sovereign fantasy of mine was shattered on the nightmarish day Josh Renfro entered the 5th grade classroom at Evans Valley Elementary School. I k bran-new immediately that I was outmatched at last. As the old saying goes, If you cant beat em, join em. Thats precisely what I did. I readily befriended Josh and became a study partner, even doing an intricate report with him. That joyous year of friendship was over within a few months, and a new challenge awa ited us new friends. Josh and I perceived middle school as an educational joke. Most of the material being cover had already been noted and logged into our far advanced memory banks. Getting an A became so simple that we resorted to analyzing teachers and their techniques (which we used for later use) as a form of intellectual entertainment. It was a little past the middle of our 6th grade year when the infamous incident happened. It was late in the erudition period when Mr. Harrison made an odd quest of Justin Watkins and I. He stated that there was a short film that was going to be viewed, that therefore required us to assemble the ancient film projector. As Justin and I constructed and positioned the prehistoric projector, we concentrated hard on the correct assembly and use of this long forgotten technological marvel. Little to our knowledge, a minute science assignment was given to the class as Justin and I worked feverishly. The period ended after the short film the day ende d normally. First period came, and with it came the statement of an unknown assignment. I questioned, Josh, did we have a science assignment cause someone told me we did. I havent heard anything about it. Nope, he replied innocently, Mr. Harrison didnt give us anything to do. We just watched that word-painting remember?

Ms. Walker related her experience in the body of an essay published in her book, In Search of Our Mothers Gardens.Ms. Angelou told her story as a chapter in her autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Al though both wrote about their traumatic experience, the way each depicted the incident was distinct and seemed to be told for very different purposes. Alice Walker reports the facts to the reader with short sentences written in the present tense. She chooses words which elicit a forceful emotional response from her audience. For example, in telling how her brothers were given BB guns and she was not, Ms. Walker writes, Because I am a girl, I do not get a gun. Instantly, I am relegated to the position of Indian.The word relegated causes the reader to be irate and indignant. Most people do not like being relegated to anything. Another illustration of Ms. Walkers use of moral force words can be found in her description of the encounter with her parents following the accident. She speaks of being confronted by her parents. Confronted is a combative word. When people are confronted by others, they want to launch an attack. Her style and choice of words make the reader aware that she is a lone and fearful. She is left to fight her battles by herself. Maya Angelou narrates her account in a conversational tone. She uses the past tense which tells her audience its over for her. Her words are free from severity.They encourage the reader to see hope in the middle of sadness. Instead of trying to elicit a particular emotional response, Angelou invites her audience to share in her thoughts and feelings. For instance, having given an account of the rape, she writes, I thought I had diedI woke up in a white-walled world, and it had to be heaven. The reader feels a connection with her pain, yet realizes redemption lies close at hand. Whereas Walker tells how she was confronted by her parents, Angelou explains,she mother picked me up in her arms and the terror abated for a while. There is no impression of combativeness. There is only tenderness and care. Once again, she invites the reader in. Walker wants the reader to feel for her Angelou wants her audience to feel with her. They achieve their objectives by directing the readers attention to specific emotions.The emotional focus of Alice Walkers story is rage, red-hot and isolating. As I read this piece, I became livid, not only at the thought of her devastating injury and her familys apparent disassociation, but also at Ms. Walker herself. It appeared to me that she never let go of it. Instead, she seemed to embrace her anger. On the other hand, Ms. Angelous anger is subtle and short-lived. Though I was incensed by what happened to her, she quietly insisted that I leave it behind. She concentrated less on her anger and more on the warmth and support of her family. It would be impossible not to address the ways in which both women refer to the intense physical pain each of them suffered as little girls.Ms. Walker gives little description of her anguish, but I clearly felt up it. When I read, . . . I feel an incredible blow in my right eye . . . and, my eye stings, and I pass over it with my hand, my i mmediate response was to quickly cover my eye with my hand. My body reacted to her pain. Ms. Angelous description catchd another effect. She wrote, Then there was the pain. A breaking and entering when even the senses are torn apart. Instead of a physical reaction, I felt a wrenching of the heart. Ms. Walker focused my attention on the injury to her body, while Ms. Angelou focused on her emotional scars.School Curriculum Specialists, LLCMy most powerful emotional response throughout both stories was one of incredible sorrow. I felt the tremendous weight that sadness and despondency can fold around a heart, not only for a childs trauma, but also for the devastating repercussions that tragedy can produce loss of dignity, self-esteem, and childhood itself. I wanted to solace them both. However, by the end of Ms. Walkers account of the incident, I not only wanted to comfort her, I wanted to shield her as well. Her wounds were still open. At the end of her narrative, she wrote, Now w hen I regard at people a favorite entertainment up to now they will stare back. Not at the cute little girl, but at her scar. For six years, I do not stare at anyone, because I do not raise my head. I wanted to intervene and help her. Although in Ms. Angelous story I yearned to comfort the child, it was self-evident that the adult Maya Angelou did not need my protection.She ended her account with these words I would have liked to stay in the hospital the rest of my life. Mother brought flowers and candy. grandma came with fruit and my uncles clumped around and around my bed, snorting like wild horses. When they were able to sneak Bailey in, he read to me for hours. Her family loved her all the way through her trauma, and she locomote from despair to hope with their help. Alice Walker and Maya Angelou are both extremely courageous writers. From each we receive a rare and poignant gift. As her book suggests, Alice Walker challenges us to search for resolution in the face of lon eliness and despair. Maya Angelou, who knows why the caged bird sings, reminds us that loneliness and despair never have the last word. She quietly points us to a window of hope. Both women bless us with shades of being human.
